📈 What’s been driving this bull market?
Bitcoin’s recent rally hasn’t been driven by hype. Instead, it’s been fueled by smart money from businesses, institutions, nation-states, and hardcore Bitcoiners who are steadily accumulating.
Most of the public hasn’t caught on yet.
The previous two bull markets happened during periods of heavy money printing as you can see in the graph below from 2016-2018 and 2020-2021.
That hasn’t been the case this time, but it’s starting to change, as global money supply growth just reached its highest level since 2022.
Institutions have been one of the largest buyers of bitcoin over the past year, but they still only hold 0.01% of their portfolio in bitcoin today.
To match Bitcoin’s current share of global wealth (~0.2%), they’d need to invest $249 billion more. That rebalancing has barely started.
Businesses are currently the largest buyers of bitcoin, but business adoption still has a lot of room to keep growing.
Today bitcoin is held by:
- 3 out of 500 S&P companies
- 9 out of 3,300 NASDAQ companies
- ~140 out of 60,000 public companies globally
- Less than 10K out of 33 million American businesses
All of this said, who knows where the price will go next? But your friends and family may start asking.
